Turkish forces withdraws from Sarman point of Idlib, northwestern Syria

IDLIB, Syria (North Press) – On Saturday evening, the Turkish forces continued their withdrawal process from  Sarman point near the city of Saraqib, east of Idlib, northwestern Syria, in preparation for their complete withdrawal.

On December 8, the Turkish forces withdrew from the military base in the al-Rashideen neighborhood, west of the city of Aleppo, towards the areas controlled by the Syrian opposition in the Atarib area, west of Aleppo.

A military source told North Press that trucks carrying military equipment, guard cabins and transport vehicles left the control point in Sarman village towards their points in Zawiya Mountain area of the southern Idlib countryside.

The source added that the Turkish soldiers worked to dismantle the Sarman point more than five days ago, in preparation for its evacuation.

He indicated that the Turkish army would withdraw from all its points besieged by Syrian government forces, in the countryside of Idlib, Hama and Aleppo, in agreement with Russia.

Turkey has established more than 70 military points and bases, and reports indicate the presence of 12,000 Turkish soldiers and thousands of military vehicles in the region since its military intervention in Syria,
