Body of kidnapped person found in northwest Syria’s Afrin

AFRIN, Syria (North Press) – People from Sharan district, in the eastern countryside of Afrin, northwest Syria, found the body of a 50-year-old man on Wednesday in agricultural fields.

According to a local source, the body belongs to Muhammad Abu Fuad, from al-Midan neighborhood in Syria’s capital Damascus, who arrived in Afrin’s countryside in 2018. The source added that he was kidnapped about a week ago with another person by unknown individuals.

The official autopsy report from the Military Hospital in Afrin, claimed that the death was a result of a heart attack.

On Tuesday, the body of the 13-year-old Qusay Abdulrahman Shihab was found near the village of al-Hamam in the countryside of Jinderis district, north of Aleppo.

The city of Afrin, which has been under the control of Turkish-backed armed opposition factions since March 2018, has been witnessing security chaos, punctuated by repeated kidnappings amid the inability of the controlling factions to control security.
