IDLIB, Syria (North Press) – The de-escalation zone, northwestern Syria, witnessed on Tuesday, mutual shelling between the Syrian government forces and the Turkish-backed armed opposition groups.
Field sources told North Press that the Syrian government forces targeted, with heavy artillery shells and missiles, the hills of al-Kabina in the northern countryside of Latakia.
It indicated that the Jabhat Ansar al-Islam group responded by targeting the sites of the Syrian government forces in Burkan hill and the northern countryside of Latakia.
The Syrian government forces continued their artillery shelling on the armed oppositions groups’ positions in the villages and towns of the southern section of Zawiya Mountain, targeting both Kansafra, al-Fateerah and Sufuhn in the south of Idlib governorate.
The sources added that the bombing coincided with the flight of Russian drones over the airspace of the region, without receiving information about casualties among the military and civilians.
On Sunday, the Syrian government forces bombed the fortifications of armed factions in the villages of al-Fateera and Kansafra, which are located in Zawiya Mountain, with dozens of shells.
For months, the region has been witnessing a military escalation and mutual shelling between the Syrian government forces and the armed opposition groups, in conjunction with the evacuation of a number of Turkish military points.
