Unknown gunmen attacked Democratic Forces leaving casualties in Syria’s east Deir ez-Zor
DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – A member of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) was killed and two others were wounded by unknown gunfire at a military post in the town of Tayyana, 50 km east of Deir ez-Zor, east Syria.
Following the incident, the SDF arrested two suspects, who had PK and Kalashnikov with them, in the town, a military source told North Press.
The Deir ez-Zor countryside is witnessing an escalation of assassinations carried out by ISIS sleeper cells.
In November, three civilians lost their lives in two separate shooting incidents in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor.
The SDF controls the northern bank of the Euphrates in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor.
While the Syrian government forces and Iranian-backed militias control the southern bank.
The SDF accuses the Syrian government, Iranian militias, and ISIS sleeper cells of destabilizing security and stability in the countryside of Deir ez-Zor.
