Central committee calls for new reconciliations with government in Syria’s Daraa

DARAA, Syria (North press) – A well informed source confirmed to North Press that the central committees in the city of Daraa, south Syria, are prepared to call for new reconciliations with the Syrian government regarding defectors and wanted individuals.

These calls included reorganizing the 2018 reconciliations ending the recent government security violations east Daraa countryside, according to the source.

The city of Daraa has been witnessing increasing tension since the beginning of November, including assassinations and kidnappings of civil activists, former heads of opposition groups, and government soldiers.

The Central Committee in Daraa consists of anti-government activists, lawyers, sheikhs, and former opposition leaders who engaged in Russian-brokered reconciliations with the Syrian government in 2018.

The source pointed out that the new demands asked that government forces enter and take control over all cities, towns, and villages in Daraa, in return for halting the arresting and security operations. He added that the calls and preparation for a project to reorganize new settlements come with the urgent need to limit government military and security incursion in Daraa.

This would stop the assassinations and arrests of those who made reconciliations since 2018, the source added.
