4 injured by IED explosion in Syria’s Afrin

AZAZ, Syria (North Press) – On Friday afternoon, four people were injured when an explosive device placed inside a car detonated in Jinderis district in the Afrin region, northwestern Syria.

This comes days after the Islamic State (ISIS) announced that it had carried out a series of attacks in opposition-controlled areas that killed civilians and soldiers.

A local source told North Press that an explosive device targeted a vehicle in the market in Jinderis district, wounding four people, including one leg amputation.

Afrin, on the Syrian-Turkish border, has been under the control of Turkish military forces and armed opposition factions since March 2018.

The northwest regions of the country are witnessing arrest and kidnapping cases accompanied by frequent bombings, amid the inability of the armed groups to control the security situation.
