SDF campaign to prevent armed phenomena in Syria’s east Deir ez-Zor

DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – Military sources told North Press that the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) launched a campaign on Wednesday, to prevent armed phenomena and seize weapons in the town of Gharanij, in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor, east Syria.

The sources added that the Internal Security Forces (Asayish) participated in the combing campaign and imposed a security cordon on the town.

The sources indicated that the campaign resulted in the confiscation of Kalashnikov weapons, grenades, PK ammunition, Kalashnikov and military gear.

The campaign coincided with the deployment of military checkpoints on the main ways and sub-ways, and the conduct of patrols to control security in the town, according to the source.

On November 29, the town witnessed a one-day fight with medium and light weapons between two families of al-Khabur and al-Ghadir of the She’eitat tribe.

The eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor is witnessing an increase in the activity of ISIS sleeper cells, including assassinations and planting IEDs.
