Turkish forces to withdraw from another military post in Syria’s de-escalation zone
IDLIB, Syria (North Press) – Turkish forcesstarted evacuating on Monday, another military observatory post within the Syrian government-held areas in the Idlib governorate northwestern Syria.
The Turkish soldiers started dismantling the fifth observatory post in Tel Tokan region, eastern Idlib in preparation to withdraw, a military source told North Press.
Within a month, The Turkish military forces evacuated seven posts that have been besieged by the government forces since the beginning of the year.
The Turkish forces positioned in Tel Tokan would withdraw towards the opposition-held areas, and it is expected to be stationed near the town of KanSafra in Zawiya Mountain, the source added.
Turkey established the fifth post in Tel Tokan in late 2018 within the framework of implementing the Russian-Turkish ceasefire agreement that was signed in Sochi.
Few days ago, the Turkish military withdrew from the sixth post near the city of Saraqib, east Idlib.
The Russian-Turkish signed agreement in 2017 and its additional protocol in March 2020 provide to halt the military actions in the Idlib governorate and its surroundings.
The source pointed out that Turkish soldiers withdrew from the besieged posts by the Syrian government in the countryside of Hama, Idlib, and Aleppo.
Turkey has established more than 60 posts and military bases since the Turkish intervention in the Syrian territories, while reports stated that it sent more than 12,000 Turkish soldiers and dozens of military vehicles to the area.
