Russian warplanes conduct air strikes on Syria’s Idlib

IDLIB, Syria (North Press) – Russian warplanes conducted on Sunday airstrikes on the Turkish-backed opposition posts in the governorate of Idlib, north west Syria, within the de-escalation zone that has been subjected to a Russian-Turkish signed agreement since March.

Russian warplanes targeted with vacuum-air missiles at the village of Balshoon in Zawiya Mountain south Idlib, a local source told North Press.

The shelling coincided with Russian drones’ flights over the area without recording military or civil casualties, the source stated.

The Syrian government forces artillery shelled the armed opposition headquarters in the town of Kansafra and the on outskirts of the town of Benin in Zawiya Mountain, the sources added.

The Russian-Turkish signed an agreement in 2017 and its additional protocol in March 2020 provide to halt the military actions in the governorate of Idlib and its surroundings.
