QAMISHLI (North Press) – Military positions of the Syrian government were subjected to Israeli air strikes on Wednesday, resulting casualties and material damage.
The Syrian state news agency SANA quoted a military source from the Syrian government, who stated that Israeli missiles targeted the southern area at about 3:11 a.m.
“The air strikes resulted in the killing of three military members and the injury of another, in addition to material damage,” the source added.
“Syrian air defense confronted the missiles and shot down one of them.”
Israeli army raa spokesman Avichay Adraee posted on his Facebook that Israeli aircraft targeted Syrian and Iranian military positions.
“The Israeli army holds the Syrian regime responsible for any operation launched from its territories, and we will continue acting as needed to hit the Iranian positions in Syria,” he said.
Early in September, 16 pro-Iranian militants were killed due to Israeli air strikes on positions eastern Syria, according the Syrian Observatory for human Rights.
Since the outbreak of the Syrian war, Israel has conducted several air strikes against targets in Syria, most of which were on Iranian forces or Iranian-backed militias positions.
