A person killed by unknown individuals in Syria’s Deir ez-Zor

DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – A person was killed on Saturday, in the town of al-Sheheil in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor, as a result of shooting by unknown individuals while on a motorcycle.

Two unknown individuals shot Sa’id Ahmad al-Hussein from the town of al-Sheheil, who died directly.   

On November 3, three civilians lost their lives in two separate shooting incidents in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor.

The eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor has recently witnessed an escalation in the operations of ISIS sleeper cells.  

The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) control the northern bank of the Euphrates in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor.

While the Syrian government forces and Iranian-backed militias control the southern bank.

Last week, the SDF arrested an ISIS sleeper cell near the town of al-Basira in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor.   

Military sources told North Press at the time, that the arrested cell “is in charge of the assassinations in the area, which are carried out using motorcycles and IEDs.”
