SDF arrests ISIS cell responsible for assassinations in Syria’s Deir ez-Zor
DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) arrested members of an ISIS cell on Monday near al-Busayrah, east of Deir ez-Zor countryside.
During the raid carried out by the SDF’s special forces and supported by the Global Coalition, five ISIS militants were arrested, military sources told North Press.
The arrested ISIS members were “responsible for assassinations committed on the outskirts of al-Busayrah using bikes and explosive devices,” the sources confirmed.
The same cell targeted people working in Deir ez-Zor Civil Council institutions, and also tried to assassinate tribal sheikhs and heads, according to the received information.
This was the third security operation by the SDF in cooperation with the Global Coalition during the past 24 hours in different parts of Deir ez-Zor, the sources stated.
