Casualties among Syrian government forces in Idlib

IDLIB, Syria (North Press) – On Monday, a number of members of the Syrian government forces, including an officer, were killed in mutual bombardment with Turkish-backed armed opposition groups in the de-escalation zone.

The Fateh al-Mubin Operations Room announced that a number of government soldiers, including officers, were killed and wounded as a result of Turkish-backed opposition groups targeting their gathering on the outskirts of the village of Milaja, south of Idlib.

Military sources said that Fateh al-Mubin group targeted government forces’ sites in the city of Kafr Nabl and the town of Kafar Roma in the southern countryside of Idlib.

A field source told North Press that the government forces targeted the groups’ centers in the villages and towns of Kansafra, Sufhon, Fateira, Kafar Aweed, al-Bara and Benin in the Zawiya Mountain region.

In eastern Idlib, government forces targeted gatherings of Turkish-backed armed opposition groups in the towns of Afes and Neirab with artillery and missiles, in addition to the village of Ma’arat Alia near the M4 Highway.

Idlib governorate and parts of the countryside of Hama, Aleppo, and Latakia are under an agreement between Russia and Turkey to stop combat operations in the de-escalation zones in northwestern Syria, though attacks and mutual bombardments continue in the region.
