Autonomous Administration extends partial lockdown for two weeks
RAQQA, Syria (North Press) – The Autonomous Administration of North East Syria (AANES) extended on Sunday, the partial lockdown in North East Syria for 15 days starting from Monday morning.
This came on the eve of the last day of a partial lockdown that the AANES implemented on October 30, in all areas of its control for a period of ten days.
The extension came after a crisis team meeting at the Executive Board of the AANES, which called for the closure of major markets and public utilities throughout the embargo.
The resolution included closing all places of worship, except for Friday prayers and Sunday masses, with precautionary measures taken.
The resolution excluded shops and stores that sell food and vegetables, provided that they should close at three o’clock pm, the restaurants would only serve delivery orders.
The decision prohibits large gatherings (wedding halls – funeral houses – meetings – conferences) under penalty of legal accountability.
The AANES lifted the lockdown on its regions in mid-June, after about three months of its imposition, which was extended for six consecutive times.
On August 27, the Crisis team in Jazira Region lifted the lockdown that had imposed entirely for a period of two weeks at the beginning of the same month and partially extended it for a week only.
There was no comment in the extension resolution regarding working hours at universities and schools and transportation at border crossings, as it was mentioned in the previous resolution.
The extension resolution obliges all citizens to wear facemasks, adhere to preventive measures, and social distancing.
It also stipulates that each region of the AANES has the right to take the necessary resolution regarding the pandemic, unless it opposes with the previous points.
