Syrian government continues targeting opposition-held areas in Syria’s Idlib
IDLIB, Syria (North Press) – Syrian government forces continued on Sunday, shelling positions of the armed opposition groups in towns and villages of Idlib, northwestern Syria, which have been subjected to Russian-Turkish ceasefire agreement since March.
The de-escalation zone in Idlib, Hama, Aleppo, and Latakia has been witnessing military escalation and mutual shelling between the government forces and the armed opposition groups.
The government forces shelled on Sunday, the opposition positions in villages and towns of Binin, Kansafra, Kafr Oweid, and al-Bara in Zawiya Mountain, southern Idlib, a local source told North Press.
Meanwhile, the government forces targeted with heavy artillery, the towns of Afes and al-Neirab, east of Idlib with no casualties reported, the source added.
The government shelling caused severe damage to the infrastructure and civilians farms, as well as forced the civilians to flee to the camps and the northern regions of Idlib.
This took place in conjunction with the Turkish withdrawal from Morek and Sher Maghar military points in Hama, and starting withdrawal process from Ma’ar Hattat on the M5 Highway, south of Idlib.
