Kidnapping Syrian refugees in Turkey
ISTANBUL, Turkey (North Press) – Violations against Syrian refugees in Turkey continue, where the number in kidnapping cases increased in many governorates in Turkey, amid a notable silence from the Turkish authorities on the issue.
The recent period witnessed an escalation in hate and racist rhetoric that Syrian refugees say, they are experiencing on Turkish territories.
“The Turkish government is unable to find solutions and put that suffering to an end,” they say.
A few days ago, a 12-year-old girl mysteriously disappeared in Osmaniya region, southern Turkey, sources interested in Turkish affairs told North Press.
The sources pointed out that the parents of the kidnapped girl posted details on social media, hoping for any information to be found out regarding who is behind the kidnapping in Turkey.
“The girl was kidnapped about a month ago, but her parents preferred to keep secret for fear of any consequences or risks to their daughter,” the sources said.
Other sources familiar with the reality of Syrian refugees in Turkey said that another kidnapping incident was recorded in Istanbul, against a 13-year-old Syrian boy.
The sources indicated that the Syrian boy was kidnapped for about two months.
In October, local sources told North Press that a 20-year-old Syrian refugee woman was mysteriously disappeared after leaving her family’s house in the southwestern Turkish city of Adana.
“Since then, there is no information about the young Syrian woman, while family started searching for her in hospitals and police departments in Adana,” the sources added.
This incident was preceded by a similar incident involving the mysterious disappearance of two Syrian girls in the Turkish city of Gaziantep.
Qays al-Hassan, a human rights activist interested in Syrian refugees’ issues in Turkey, blamed the Turkish authorities for the incidents involving the Syrian refugees.
He noted that the relatives of the kidnapped are trying to file complaints, but Turkish police departments are dealing with it with no concern.
About 4 million Syrians live in Turkey, according to Turkish official statistics.
