DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – The Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) arrested three members of an ISIS sleeper cell, including a former leader, in the countryside of Syria’s eastern city of Deir ez-Zor on Monday.

Private sources told North Press that the SDF, with the support of the US-led Global Coalition to Defeat ISIS, raided a house in the town of al-Sabha, near Jedid al-Akidat in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor, at exactly eleven o’clock Monday night.

The forces were able to arrest three members of an ISIS sleeper cell and confiscate individual weapons and RPG launchers in their possession.

According to the sources, former ISIS leader Abu Jihad al-Ansari, who was known to carry out retribution operations, was arrested. The sources stated that al-Ansari was being pursued for some time by the SDF and the Global Coalition forces.
