SDF launches security campaign in Syria’s Hasakah to pursue ISIS sleeper cells
HASAKAH, Syria (North Press) – The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) launched a security campaign on Sunday to pursue sleeper cells of the Islamic State (ISIS) in the town of Markada, south of the city of Hasakah, northeastern Syria.
An SDF military source told North Press that the security campaign started at noon on Sunday in the town of Markada to pursue ISIS sleeper cells who were involved in assassinations, the most recent of which was a leader in the Shaddadi Military Council.
On Saturday, unidentified persons targeted Radwan Amin, one of the leaders of the Shaddadi Military Council, in the town of Markada, killing him.
On Saturday evening, an IED exploded in the car of the commander of the Deir ez-Zor Military Council, Abu Khawla, in the Nashwa neighborhood, south of Hasakah.
