Autonomous Administration in northeast Syria imposes partial 10-day lockdown

AIN ISSA, Syria (North Press) – The Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria approved a partial lockdown on all areas of its control for 10 days on Tuesday, to start on the morning of October 30.

The Crisis Management Team of the Executive Board of the Autonomous Administration made the decision to implement the lockdown, which will impose the closure of large markets and all public facilities throughout the period of the lockdown.

The decision excluded shops and food stores that will close at 3 pm, while restaurants are limited to takeout and delivery orders only.

The decision included the closure of all places of worship except for Friday prayers in mosques and Sunday services in churches as long as they follow precautionary measures, as well as the prohibition of gatherings such as weddings, funerals, and conferences.

It urged citizens to wear face masks and take preventative measures in public places, markets, and official departments.

The resolution excluded schools, universities, and educational institutions with the necessary preventative measures, as well as hospitals, public and private health centers, international organizations, the Red Cross, Red Crescent, pharmacies, and bakeries.

The resolution noted that the border crossings will remain open to unhindered passenger movement.

The Autonomous Administration lifted the previous lockdown in mid-June, nearly three months after it was imposed, and extended it six times.

On August 27, the Crisis Management Team in the Jazira region lifted the two-week lockdown, which was extended for only one week.
