Land mine explosion wounds civilian in Syria’s Deir ez-Zor

DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – A man was critically injured on Tuesday when a landmine exploded in the western Deir ez-Zor countryside.

A land mine explosion injured an internally displaced person in the Syrian government-held town of Ghbra, west of Deir ez-Zor, while he was tending sheep. He was transferred to a hospital for treatment, a North Press correspondent confirmed.

Additionally, a civilian lost his life and two others were injured on October 7 in a land mine explosion north of Deir ez-Zor on the eastern bank of the Euphrates.

Explosions of landmines and other war remnants, which date back to the battles to expel ISIS from the countryside of Deir ez-Zor, are common in the area.
