Coalition and SDF hold business outreach event in northeast Syria’s Shaddadi

SHADDADI, Syria (North Press) – The Global Coalition to Defeat ISIS and the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) recently held a business outreach event in Shaddadi, the official website of Combined Joint Task Force – Operation Inherent Resolve (CJTF-OIR) announced on Monday.

Special sources told North Press that the Global Coalition’s economic team met with local companies in northeastern Syria, aiming to replace non-local companies with local ones in order to stimulate the local economy, create new job opportunities, and reduce the unemployment rate. The team met with 14 local vendors which attended the event.

The Coalition stressed the importance of obtaining the approval of the Autonomous Administration in North and East Syria (AANES) for all contracts, and fulfilling all conditions mandated by local companies.

The Coalition’s economic team added that it will supervise communication between the Coalition and local vendors and provide advice to local companies about projects to maintain economic stability and development in northeast Syria.

The SDF assisted in investigating local companies working with the Coalition to ensure “proceeds from these contracts are not funding terrorism but instead assist legitimate businesses and provide SDF support,” according to the statement.

The CJTF-OIR statement explained that the number of companies able to provide services to the Coalition have doubled since March of this year, and added that “events such as these increase the likelihood of success for emerging Syrian businesses, providing financial security and stabilization in the region, allowing the economy to recover and further denying Daesh (ISIS) the change to resurge.”

In a press conference in July, then-spokesperson for the Global Coalition Colonel Myles J. Caggins stated that the Coalition has worked closely with local businesses and assisted with civilian projects in North and East Syria in order to boost the local economy.
