Child Protection Office in Syria’s Hasakah delivers two SDF minors to their parents

HASAKAH, Syria (North Press) – The Child protection Office handed over on Saturday, two minors who were among the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), to their families.

The handover process took place after the coordination between SDF and the Child Protection Office, which was recently established after SDF and the United Nations signed an agreement to protect children from armed conflicts and keep them away from military actions.

“The SDF shows great response to this step,” Khaled al-Jabr, a lawyer in Hasakah Council, told North Press.

“In the past, many minors have been returned to their families with documents and papers,” he added.

Last week, six minors were handed over to their parents after submitting a complaint to the Child Protection Office of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES), according to al-Jabr.

In July 2019, the SDF signed a joint action plan with the UN regarding banning child recruitment and stating that no one under the age of 18 would be eligible for SDF membership.
