Albanian delegation pays official visit to northeast Syria
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – On Thursday, an official delegation from the Albanian Republic arrived on a visit to the regions of the Autonomous Administration in North and East Syria (AANES).
The delegation arrived at the headquarters of the Department of Foreign Relations in AANES in the city of Qamishli, and was received by officials of the Autonomous Administration.
The Department of Foreign Relations published on its official account in Facebook that the Albanian delegation was headed by Marc Iskandar Ghorayeb,The head of mission of Albania to Lebanon, Jordan, and Syria, and the Advisor of the Albanian Prime Minister for Middle East, Gulf and Africa affairs.
The delegation was also accompanied by Colonel Gledis Nano, the director of Counterterrorism in the Albanian State Police, and his assistant for operations, Major Undert Doda.
The two sides exchanged views, according to the Department of Foreign Relations, on political, security, service and camp issues, and the means of cooperation to combat terrorism.
The Department of Foreign Relations did not reveal the length of time that the Albanian delegation will spend in the region, and neither the agenda nor the visits the delegation will make have been revealed.
Earlier this week, an official delegation from the Swedish Foreign Ministry visited the northeast Syria.
The delegation held meetings with officials of the Autonomous Administration, the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), the Kurdish National Council in Syria and the Syrian Democratic Council (SDC), and visited the IDP camps of the city of Sere Kaniye (Ras al-Ain), as well as with the IDPs from Afrin.
Badran Jia Kurd, deputy co-chair of the AANES, said in a previous statement to North Press that the relationship between the Kingdom of Sweden and the Autonomous Administration “will have historic results.”
The Kurdish politician suggested that the upcoming period will witness a supportive European attitude toward the Swedish position in northeast Syria.
