Local groups’ members succumb to injuries in Syria’s Suwayda
SUWAYDA, Syria (North Press) – Two members of the local groups in Suwayda governorate, southern Syria, succumbed to their injuries from an attack by Russian-backed forces late in September.
The government hospital in Suwayda recorded on Thursday that Rani Khadaj, who joined the Druse militia Men of Dignity, succumbed to his injuries, a local source told North Press.
Two days ago, Amin Safadi, who was a member of the National Defense Division, died after being shot in the chest during the fighting, according to the source.
Violent fighting took place on 28/29 September between local groups and the Eighth Brigade, causing deaths and injuries.
Late in September, the government hospital received 62 wounded; some of them recovered while the critical situations were receiving treatment, a medical source from the hospital said.
Days ago, Akl Sheikhs and figures from Suwayda called on stopping all committed violations by the Eighth Brigade headed by Ahmad Awda.
The First Corps of the Syrian government army has been ordered by Damascus to be ready to move to the southern area, a military source told North Press in a special statement Tuesday.
The leader of the Druze community in Suwayda, Emir Louai Atrash, called on the government forces to assume their responsibilities and impose their presence between Suwayda and Daraa.
The Druze Emir warned locals not to shake the ground under the feet of the Russian-backed Eighth Brigade, in case the Syrian government did not respond to his call.
Busra al-Sham in Daraa Governorate is the major stronghold of the Eighth Brigade, where most of its military headquarters are located.
