SDC: symposia in northeastern Syria aim at conference including opposition
RAQQA, Syria (North Press) – The Vice President of the Executive Committee of the Syrian Democratic Council (SDC), Hikmat Habib, said on Saturday that the series of symposia held by the Council in northeastern Syria aims to reach a conference that includes all opposition forces in Syria.
Habib’s statements came on the sidelines of a second symposium held by the Syrian Democratic Council on Saturday in Raqqa titled “Towards a National Conference for the People of Jazira and Euphrates.”
Hikmat Habib told North Press that this is the second symposium held by the SDC in the city of Raqqa, as its area is large and has notoriety as the former capital of ISIS and was destroyed during the war.
The symposium was attended by notables, tribal leaders, civil activists, and political figures from Raqqa and other parts of northern and eastern Syria, in addition to members of the Syrian Democratic Council, the Autonomous Administration, and the Raqqa Civil Council.
The Vice President of the Executive Committee of the Syrian Democratic Council stated that the series of conferences and seminars aims to reach the formation of a conference that includes all opposition forces in Syria, leading to a national conference that includes all Syrians.
After completing the seminars, the council will hold a comprehensive national conference at the level of North and East Syria based on the outputs of the symposia.
The Syrian Democratic Council held the first seminar in the city of Raqqa on Wednesday after holding five seminars: three in Hasakah, one in Kobani and one in Manbij.
