(North Press) – The spiritual father and supreme religious authority of the Yazidis in the world, Kharto Hajji Ismail, died on Thursday evening at the age of 87 in Erbil, Kurdistan Region of Iraq.
The death of Hajji Ismail, known as Baba al-Sheikh, came after a long struggle with a disease in the kidneys and heart.
The body of Hajji Ismail is expected to be transferred to the city of Sheikhan in the province of Dohuk in the Kurdistan region, according to a special ceremony, Iraqi media reported.
Hajji Ismail, that is a religious degree, takes care of the religious affairs of the Yazidis in the present world, while the Emir of the Yazidis handles the worldly affairs.
Whoever responsible for the shrine of Baba Sheikh, must live in the Ain Sifni (Sheikhan) area to supervise the Lalish Temple there, and Hajji Ismail used to occupy this place, according to press sources.
