SDF Commander-in-Chief: We console Kuwait over death of al-Sabah & appreciate its efforts within coalition
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – SDF Commander-in-Chief Mazloum Abdi issued a message of condolence on Wednesday on the death of the Emir of Kuwait, Sheikh Sabah al-Ahmad al-Jaber al-Sabah.
Abdi offered his condolences to the Kuwaiti people through a tweet he posted on his official Twitter account.
“We offer our sincere condolences to all of the Kuwaiti people. We appreciate the efforts made by the State of Kuwait in support of our people on the humanitarian and political levels, especially within the Global Coalition against ISIS,” Abdi tweeted in Arabic.
The Emir of Kuwait, Sheikh Sabah al-Ahmad al-Jaber al-Sabah, died on Tusday evening at the age of 91 in the United States after a long-term illness.
The Kuwaiti State announced that the body of the Emir would arrive to Kuwait on Wednesday, while only relatives would attend the burial ceremonies.
On July 18, Kuwait transferred some of the powers of the late Emir to the 83-year-old Crown Prince Nawaf al-Ahmad al-Jaber al-Sabah after the Emir was hospitalized.
