(North Press) – The Armenian Ministry of Defense accused Turkey of shooting down an Armenian Su-25 plane over the country, as it provided support for the Azerbaijani army strikes.
The Armenian Ministry of Defense said, a Turkish F-16 fighter shot down an Armenian plane, and killing the pilot.
The Turkish fighter took off from Ganja Airport in Azerbaijan, and it was providing air support for the Azerbaijani army strikes against the Armenian sites near the city of Vardins, the ministry added.
It stated that the Turkish F-16 shot down the Armenian plane over Armenian territory.
Armenia’s ambassador to Moscow, Vardan Toganyan said, after this accident, Armenia may resort to the Collective Security Treaty Organization.
In the meantime, and in a statement to Bloomberg, head of the Turkish Presidency’s Communication Department, Fakhruddin Altun, said that these allegations “are completely untrue.”
Reuters also quoted two Turkish officials who denied Armenian claims about the accident.
On Monday, an advisor to the Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced that his country does not see any urgent need to send its forces to the Nagorno-Karabakh at the present time.
There are reports that Turkey has sent batches of Syrian mercenaries to Azerbaijan, and that the bodies of some of them have arrived in Syria, after they were killed in the battles took place on the frontlines in Nagorno-Karabakh.
On September 22, seven buses in addition to several vehicles belonging to the Turkish-backed Sultan Murad group set off from the village of Kafr Ghan in the northern countryside of the region of Soran to the Howar Killis crossing, east of the city of Azaz, northern Aleppo.
