Abdel Fattah el-Sisi’s addresses Turkey to stop interference in Middle East

ISTANBUL, Turkey (North Press) – Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi’s last statements regarding Libya, implicitly addressed Turkey to stop its interference in the Middle East.

Egyptian President addressed on Tuesday with a strongly worded message Turkey regarding Libya.

“Egypt committed to ridding Libya from all terrorist organizations and militias, and stop the blatant interference of some regional parties,” el-Sisi said.

“Those regional parties brought foreign fighters to Libya to achieve outdated ambitions and colonialism illusions,” he said pointing out to Turkey.

El-Sisi gave his on-line speech on Tuesday to the 75th session of the United Nations General Assembly.

He pointed out that the consequences of the crisis did not only affect Libya, but it affected the neighboring countries’ stability and security.

Mahmud Abu Hosh, Researcher in international relations, residing in Egypt, told North Press that el-Sisi’s statements addressed the external party pointing to Turkey who supports the Government of National Accord.

This statement came after the developments of the tensioned Eastern Mediterranean issue, Abu Hosh added.

“These issues are of great importance for Egypt that works hard to defense its national security through maintaining the security of neighboring countries against the external parties’ interference,” he said.

Egypt believes that the Turkish interference in Libya as well as in eastern Mediterranean threatens its national security, therefore it directed these statements and criticism to Turkey,” he stated.

The eastern Mediterranean region has been witnessing constant developments amid Turkish obstinacy, which flared up the European Union, which intervened in favor of Greece against Turkey.

European discontent led Turkey to retreat in the intensity of its statements and tone, which bore implicit threats to Greece and to Europe in general.

Mustafa Aga Uglu, a Turkish political analyst, as for the Turkish view of el-Sissi’s statements, said Egypt Politically and economically incapable of waging a war in Libya, regarding the Turkish position to el-Sisi statements,

“There is a hidden party that wants to involve el-Sisi in battles in Libya, while its support will be only as logistical and arming some of the rebels, Uglu told North Press.

In case that happened, his tasks would be limited to securing the Egyptian-Libyan border, fearing that some of el-Sarraj’s fighters would pass the Egyptian borders, he stated.

The Egyptian Foreign Minister, Sameh Shoukry, attacked Turkey on September 9, saying that Turkey worked to destabilize security and stability in Libya and the entire region.

“Turkey wants to repeat the Syrian experience in Libya,” the Minister added.
