Casualties in two explosions in Syria’s Turkish-occupied Sere Kaniye

SERE KANIYE, Syria (North Press) – Two explosions rocked the town of Tal Halaf in the western countryside of Sere Kaniye (Ras al-Ain), Syria on Thursday, killing three civilians and injuring 12.

The first explosion took place via a motorcycle bombing in the town’s market and led to the injury of a civilian, a local source told North Press.

The other explosion was a VBIED which detonated in the town’s market, taking place two hours after the first explosion, killing three civilians and injuring 11, the source added.

The source noted that the two explosions caused massive damage to the surrounding area, including dozens of shops, houses, and cars.

In October 2019, the Turkish army and their affiliated Syrian armed opposition groups known as the Syrian National Army (SNA), launched a military operation and pushed the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) from the border towns of Sere Kaniye (Ras al-Ain) and Tel Abyad (Gre Spi), leading to the deaths of about 500 civilians and the displacement of about 300,000 people.

There have been several explosions in both towns since October, as the areas occupied by Turkey suffer from security chaos due to the conflicts among several armed groups which rule the occupied areas.
