New coronavirus cases, deaths after reopening of schools in Syria’s Suwayda
SUWAYDA, Syria (North Press) – The Health Directorate in Suwayda, southern Syria, recorded three new coronavirus cases and a death.
The new recorded infections brought the total to 126, including 70 recoveries and 14 deaths.
The recorded cases are fewer than the real numbers, a medical source who preferred to remain unidentified told North Press.
It is expected that the number of infections will increase after the re-opening of schools and gathering of students without implementing preventative measures, the source added.
Recently, people have not implemented the preventative measures, he stated.
Nizar Mehana, the head of the Suwayda Health Directorate, posted on his website that “laxity and recklessness in applying preventative measures recently to confront the coronavirus heralds an upcoming and severe recurrence of the disease.”
After the decline in the numbers of patients coming to the departments concerned with the disease over the last twenty days in the National Hospital, “the number of cases started to increase slightly, and this is not promising,” he added.
