SEREKANIYE, Syria (North Press) – At least four killed and eight injured in an explosion on Saturday in the central market of Syria’s Turkish-held northeastern town of Serekaniye, local sources said.
In another explosion, material damage caused when a VBIED exploded near the public bakery of the town.
Local sources confirmed that the explosive device exploded near a market where there were a lot of fabric and clothes shops in the central market of Serekaniye, also known as Ral Al-Ain in Arabic.
Initial reports said four were killed and seven injured, with the possibility of an increase in the number of casualties due to injured in critical conditions, according to the local sources.
Several shops near the explosion as well as some surrounding houses were burnt and damaged.
Last month, six civilians were wounded in an explosive device explosion in the town.
A VBIED also blasted last month near a check point west of Mabroka village in Serekaniye countryside, where three Turkish-backed militants were killed and several injured.
This series of successive blasts started in July with a car-bomb explosion near Jawzah roundabout and near the Civil Council building in the town.
In October, the Turkish army and their affiliated Syrian rebel groups known as the Free Syrian Army, later changed to Syrian National Army, took control of the towns of Serekaniye and Tel Abyad and their surrounding countryside during the military operation, called Peace Spring.
Additionally, they pushed the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) from the border towns of Serekaniye and Tal Abyad, leading to the deaths of about 500 civilians and the displacement of about 300,000 people.
Since then, residents in the region have reported many human rights abuses, including theft, looting, assault, kidnapping, murder, and explosions where civilians were the only victims.
