Hayat Tahrir al-Sham expels IDPs from Idlib, Syria camp
IDLIB, Syria (North Press) – Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS, formerly al-Nusra Front) backed-security forces informed displaced families residing in al-Bardakli camp north of the city of Sarmada in the northern countryside of Idlib that they must evacuate the site on Sunday.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) stated that HTS expelled a number of the camp residents with the aim of expanding a stone quarry owned by one of the HTS leaders.
Dozens of residents in the camps north of Idlib took part in a demonstration in the area to protest the damage caused to them by the excavation and continuous explosions that terrorize children and women, SOHR reported.
HTS members confronted the demonstrators amid threats to expel them from the site if they returned to demonstrate.
According to the team, there are 1,293 camps in the region in which about 1,044,000 displaced people reside.
The camps consist of 307,829 males, 377,292 females and 408,568 children.
As for the special cases in the camps, they are distributed as follows: 19,102 people with special needs and 10,146 widowed women.
