Future Syria Party launches its second conference of in Syria’s northeastern Raqqa

The Future Syria Party held its second general conference in Syria’s northeastern city of Raqqa on Saturday.

The conference was held under the slogan “A decentralized pluralistic Syria, consolidating self-administration and strengthening Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF)”.

Amid following preventive measures against the Coronavirus pandemic, about 300 members of the Future Syria Party from all areas of northern and eastern Syria, in addition to representatives of political parties, the Autonomous Administration in North and East Syria (AANES) and tribes in the region, have participated in the conference.

Conference activities began with reading a report on the party’s activities within the past two years, followed by a speech by the head of the Party, Ibrahim Qaftan.

According to the conference’s preparatory committee, at the end of the conference, Ibrahim Qaftan was elected as a second term head of Future Syria Party.

Seham Daoud was elected as a Secretary General, in addition to 138 members have been elected for the Party’s Council.

Daoud replaced the previous Secretary General Hevrin Khalaf who was killed on Oct. 12 along with a driver and aide when Turkey-backed fighters stopped their SUV on the M4 highway in northern Syria, according to the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and officials in her party.
