The locals and the displaced people in the bordering town of Atmah, northern Idlib, suffer from the service deterioration, amid almost complete absence of the humanitarian organizations, and what is known the ministry of service in the ‘Salvation Government’ of Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS).
Residents of Atmah told North-Press that the service situation in the town is so bad, especially the craters spread in all the roads which cause damage to the vehicles, along with continued neglect.
During the past years, the town of Atmah witnessed a huge constructing movement, due to the overpopulation, without developing the sanitation systems which leads to the leak of water to the streets, the matter caused bad smells, and spread of insects, and as a result, increasing the fear of the people from the spread of diseases among their children, such as Leishmania.
Useless complaints
People of Atmah filed several complaints, but they were useless.
In this regard, Abdul-Rahman al-Saleh, the head of the local council in the town said: "The service situation is so bad, amid the absence of NGOs role,” classifying the problem into two main parts, the unbearable situation of the roads, and the sanitation, as he stated.
Al-Saleh said that although Atmah council is affiliated to the ministry of service in ‘Salvation Government’ of Hayat Tahrir al-Sham, but it didn't provide any services, confirming that the town is in need of service projects to ease the suffering of the local and the displaced people.
Administratively, the town of Atmah is affiliated to al-Dana district in Harem region in Idlib governorate, as it includes a border-crossing with Turkey, which is used by the Syrian armed opposition groups and it contains several IDP camps for the displaced people from southeastern countryside of Idlib and western countryside of Aleppo.
