US Senator: US national security requires the support of our Kurdish allies

At a panel which was held by Hudson Institute in Washington DC on Tuesday, which was attended by North-Press, the Republican Senator Ted Cruz said that the United States should stand with its allies despite its conviction about the necessity of the U.S. withdrawal and its retreat from the attempts of establishing ideal democracies by force. 

He stressed that the partnership between the Kurds and the U.S. should keep U.S. foreign policies interested in supporting the allies and in standing with them to achieve the U.S. national security goals.  

On the other hand, the Republican Senator warned about the return to the Comprehensive Plan of the Joint Work (Nuclear Deal) which was signed in 2015 with Iran, describing the step as a “big mistake”, pointing to the existence of a “deep state” in Washington which is seeking to thwart the policies of the U.S. President Donald Trump, especially his policy towards Iran.

Cruz said that the European allies were coming to his office during the rule of President Obama, expressing their severe anxiety about the rise of the Iranian influence and its getting closer to acquiring nuclear weapons, adding “But they are more conservative under Trump presidency, not because they feel safe from Iran, but because they want to do anything to oppose Trump’s strategies and to prevent him from keeping his promises”.  

Cruz said: “Some may have heard about a deep state in the US”, adding “I’m here to tell you yes, there is a deep state which is now alive and surrounds the capital Washington, and which works every day to thwart President Trump’s decisions”.   

Cruz pointed to European and U.S. attempts in persuading President Trump to give Iran lots of exemptions in order to sell its oil, and expressed his anxiety about this move which would blow up “all the gains of the sanctions which have hit the Iranian regime in the past”, he said. 

Ted Cruz also stressed that some reports which were issued by some supporters of leniency policies with Iran that it is far from developing nuclear military capabilities, pointing out that Iran has reached an advanced point of development regarding its nuclear capabilities.
