The united states: 10 million dollar reward for information
The US president’s administration, Donald Trump, announced, on Monday, a
10 million dollar reward for information that would disrupt the financial
mechanisms of the Lebanese Hezbollah.
The US Department of State said, financial rewards will be paid to those
who give information aimed at “identifying and disrupting” the
sources of income of Hezbollah, donors, financial facilitators and the
investments owned by the party, or under its control. Furthermore, the rewards
also aim at identifying and disrupting “criminal schemes that include
Hezbollah members and supporters, who provide financial benefit to the
organization.”
Rewards will be provided by the “rewards for justice” program,
which usually provides money for information leading to the identification of
wanted terrorists, and this is the first time that the program is used to
target a financial network.
In a related context, the US State Department said in a statement on
Monday that Washington is trying to cut off the flow of Iranian money to
Lebanon’s Hezbollah.
“Hezbollah’s revenues amount to about $1 billion a year, which is
secured through direct financial support from Iran, international exchanges and
investments, a network of donors and money laundering activities,” the
Department of State in a statement.
The US State Department has set an example of targeted individuals and parties,
with three members and financiers of Hezbollah, namely, Adham Tabjah, Ali Yousuf
Sharara and Muhamad Ibrahim Bzeeh.
The Ministry of Finance in June 2015, has put Adham Tabjah on its list
of terrorists and terrorism financiers.
According to the State Department, Tabjah is a member of Hezbollah and
has direct links with its senior organizational members , “including the
operational component of the terrorist group, Islamic Jihad.”
While ” Ali Yousuf Sharara ” was put on the Treasury’s list of
terrorists in (January 2016) as a major financier of Hezbollah.
The Treasury Department also added” Muhamad Ibrahim Bzeeh ”
to its terrorists’ list in May 2018, and the US State Department said that he had provided Hezbollah with millions
of dollars, through its business activities.
