Syrian food is the most favorite to Egyptians in Ramadan
You cannot resist the delicious taste of Syrian food in Ramadan, especially when you go down to the streets of 6th of October city and find the Egyptians queued waiting for breakfast time at a Syrian restaurant, to eat those delicious foods.
The good smell of fresh meat grilled on the fire leads you to the “The Prince” restaurant, as well as many Syrian grilled food served, where the Egyptians know nothing about before the Syrian crisis.
“The secret of Syrian food flavor is spices,” Yahya Abu Obaida, 65-year-old, the owner of Syrian restaurant cleared to North Press.
“The Syrian food has some similarities with Egyption ones, but the flavor of Syrian food has a distinctive taste, because of the spices,” Abu Obaida added.
Abu Obeida added that Egyptians have special kinds of food, and that the way of cooking and added materials differ from one country to another.

One hour before breakfast time, a mix of families, Egyptian and Syrian friends sit and wait for the grilled meat prepared by Abu Obeida.
“The most loved and wanted Syrian food are, Al-Safiha” or “meat on dough” as it is called in Syria, which is a kind of grilled meat with special spices and made like pizza in the oven, the meat is put on the dough in the oven”.
He pointed out that the Egyptians liked it a lot, and any one taste it for the first time, added it to his list of favorite food.
However, Abu Obaida hoped to return Hama (his city), and open a restaurant there, but that would be “after the settlement of the situation in Syria”, he also hoped stability and safety for Egyptians.
It is worth mentioning, that the number of Syrian refugees in Egypt reached 120,000, including 52,000 children, according to the latest Egyptian government report in April 2017.
Hence, the same report noted that “the Syrians have managed to enter the Egyptian economy markets and share millions of dollars over the past years”, despite the difficulties faced them, such as obtaining work permits.
