Six members of the Islamic State group (ISIS) were killed in clashes in Diyala governorate east of Baghdad, the Iraqi army said on Thursday.

The Iraqi Defense Ministry said in a statement that the security forces were able to besiege the members of the terrorist group, and killed all of them after clashes.

The ministry pointed out that among the dead: “There were 4 suicide bombers wearing explosive belts, including the so-called “the journalist of Diyala state,” whose camera was found in “Qarah Tabbah” in Diyala governorate.”

The ministry added that ISIS militants attacked the Iraqi army’s checkpoint today in the area of “Qarah Tabbah”, northeast of Diyala governorate.

ISIS sleeper cells are active in different parts of Iraq and Syria, despite the operations carried out by the Iraqi security forces and the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in cooperation with the Global Coalition to capture the cells of the terrorist group.
