Resignation of five Turkish officers, two of whom are in charge of military operations in Idlib

Northern Syria – North-Press Agency

Five Turkish army generals have applied for retirement, including two officers in charge of observation points in Idlib, northern Syria. As Turkish media reported.
According to “Cumhuriyet” Turkish newspaper, the decision of the generals has come in protest at the recent decisions of military advisory council headed by President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
Moreover, the newspaper pointed to the resignation of a senior officer and four other officers, two of them are General Ahmed Arjan Turbaji, and his assistant, who are responsible for military operations in Idlib, where the Turkish military forces are present at some points (of the safe zone).
Erdogan’s decisions have been criticized by Turkish military circles, considering recent promotions and appointments to the army weren’t made according to competence or seniority.
The military advisory council was convened in early August to discuss promotions, as Erdogan endorsed his decisions a few days ago.
