Beirut blast: Israel raises Hezbollah’s weapons stored in south Lebanon

RAMALLAH, Palestine (North Press) –  The Israeli analyst and researcher Nazir Majali said on Thursday that Israel was trying to exploit the explosion that hit Beirut port on Tuesday to form an internal Lebanese pressure against Iranian-backed Hezbollah and their weapon depots.

Majali, who is based in Israel, told North Press that Tel Aviv has raised the issue of the weapons owned by Hezbollah in the southern Lebanese villages.

The weapons are stored under houses, which means that Lebanese people are living on a depot of gunpowder that may explode any moment.

Majali added that the party which stores the highly flammable ammonium nitrate belongs must be held responsible, whether Hezbollah, Syrian intelligence, or any other party .

This clarifies that Israel is following-up this issue as a result of Beirut explosion, as reported by the Israeli channel 12, pointing to the anger of  Lebanese people against Hezbollah.

Israel aims to create an internal and international pressure against Hezbollah weapon and demand its disarmament.

So, Israel hopes that Beirut explosion will lead to major political changes in Lebanon,  but not yet sure that this will actually happen.

This means that if Israeli aim is not achieved, it will search for another mean to curb and pressure Hezbollah to comply to the conditions.

In this regard, the Israeli newspaper Haaretz reported on Thursday that the Beirut blast would hinder Hezbollah from conducting an operation against Israel,

The newspaper added that the Israeli army is preparing to return to its normal condition after the Beirut explosion.
