Mutual Shelling Between the Opposition and The Government Causes a New Wave of Displacement South of Idlib

The village of Tarmala, south-west Idlib countryside was shelled by the Government air force, because of the presence of military bases of the Syrian opposition factions within the town, and its closeness to fighting areas in the northern countryside of Hama and the towns of Al-Ghab plain.

Tarmala is located in the villages of Jabal Shahshabu in the south-west of Idlib countryside.

The village is a main point in the region linking the villages of Hama’s northern countryside and Idlib’s southern countryside, where it links western areas of Idlib with Al-Ghab plain, and northern countryside of Hama with the villages of Jabal Zawiya.

The town of Tarmala, with a population of 2,000, was subjected to heavy bombardment of rocket launchers and warplanes by the Syrian Government aircrafts and Russian camps in Bridij and northern countryside of Hama.

Furthermore, the shelling targeted hospitals and schools in the town, causing displacement of its people towards north of Syria.

The town and its surroundings were also hit by Napalm rockets and burning phosphorous.
