Syrian Opposition Groups Launch an Offensive on Syrian Government Forces Northern Hama.
On Thursday afternoon, the armed opposition groups mainly Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) and Jaysh al-Izza launched a counter-offensive on Syrian Government positions in northwestern Hama, in a battle called “Invasion of Mu’tasim Billah.”
The battle began with the armed rebel groups attacking the positions of the Syrian government forces in Jibeen and Tal Meleh, that was preceded by targeting the surroundings of the northern city of Muhradah and the surroundings of the thermal station with several Grad missiles and heavy weapons.
The groups’ offensive on this front aimed to alleviate the powerful pressure on the southern fronts of Idlib, where the Syrian government forces are on the advance.
Villages of Jibeen and Tal Meleh make strategic defensive lines in western Hama countryside, which are located to the west of Muhradah, and as a key to the western Hama countryside.
Syrian government forces responded by evacuating the sites and forming a rear defense line to stop the advancement of the armed militias, in which they continued bombarding village of Tal Meleh.
As a result of the heavy offensive, the road linking Al-Suqaylabiyah and Muhradah was blocked, which caused paralysis in the movement between the two cities and the other nearby villages.
While on the other hand, the Syrian government forces brought additional reinforcements to stop the advancement of the armed groups, and reopen the previously blocked roads, on the ranging areas between Tal Meleh and Jalamah.
