Turkish Foreign Minister accuses the Syrian Government of Sending Extremists to Northern Syria

Escalations continued in the areas of de-escalation zones in north-west Syria, coinciding with the Russian declaration of a ceasefire denied by the Turkish side, and rejection of the Turkish Foreign Minister the Russian excuses.

The Syrian government forces targeted the areas of Kafr Zita, Zakat and Al Arbaeen in the northern countryside of Hama, this morning with artillery shelling.

While fierce clashes erupted between the government forces and the armed groups in the axes of Tal Meleh and Jibeen in northern Hama, amid intensive mutual shelling in an attempt by Syrian government forces to advance in the area.

During the last 24 hours, four people were killed, including a child and a woman, in the aerial bombardment on the town of Hass and Tal Hadya camps southern Idlib and Aleppo.

The Syrian opposition groups targeted areas under the government control in north-west Hama, including the town of Muhradah, following an escalation of the opposition areas of control in Idlib and its outskirts.

The escalation came after Moscow announced a truce and the Turkish side denied it, while the Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu declared, “We do not accept the excuse that we cannot make the regime listen to us.”

He also stated in an interview with a Turkish news agency on Friday, “The regime would attack Idlib using the excuse of the radical groups’ presence after sending them there.”

Cavusoglu stressed,” Russia has to fulfill its commitments in stabilizing the truce in the region,” stressing on what he described as harassment of the Syrian government forces with a Turkish observation post, wounding three Turkish soldiers.”
