The Syrian government and Russian fighter jets conducted since today’s early morning hours several airstrikes targeting various locations in the governorates of Idlib and Hama in the northwestern region of Syria.

The aerial bombardments and shelling targeted the town of Khan Shaykhun in the southern countryside of Idlib, and Al-Arbaeen village in the northern countryside of Hama resulted in further damage and destruction to civilian properties without any reports on casualties.

Furthermore, the Syrian government forces bombarded areas in the town of Morak in the northern countryside of Hama, and the targeting of two vehicles likely to carry civilians near the town of Habeet south of Idlib, while targeting the areas of Tal Al-Sakhr, Al-Jisat, Tal Meleh and Al-Jabeen, north of Hama.

The Syrian government forces also shelled Hawija village in al-Ghab plain, while the Syrian opposition armed groups targeted Bab al-Taqa village in the western countryside of Hama, causing casualties among the Syrian military.

During the past few hours, the Syrian government forces targeted the areas of Hasraya, Tal Meleh, Abu Reida and Al-Jabeen in the northern countryside of Hama, causing material damage.

Moreover, North-Press observed caution signs predominating over the residents of Idlib, fearing the escalation of ground and air raids on the region, as it has killed and displaced hundreds of thousands of people in the recent months.

While according to the “Response Team” documentation, the number of IDPs has reached up to 97404 families of 633118 people, and the number of civilian casualties has increased as according to the targeting of residential neighborhoods in different areas.

The casualties had numbered 912 civilians, including 258 children since the start of the military campaign in February 2019.

“These horrific acts have led to more casualties among children,” said UNICEF Executive Director Henrietta Fore in a statement released on Sunday indicating the killing of at least 140 children in northwestern Syria since the beginning of the year.

Henrietta Fore urged all parties of the conflict and those with influence to ensure the protection of children from the ongoing violence in northwestern Syria and across the country.
