Intensive airstrikes target Idlib governorate as military operations resume

The military operations have returned to the de-escalation zones following the Syrian government announcement of resuming military campaign in the region, where different areas were subjected to intensive aerial and ground bombardment, causing casualties and injuries.
On Tuesday morning, the Syrian government forces bombed areas in the town of Hayan in the northern countryside of Aleppo, as well as towns of Zaka and Kafr Zita, in the northern countryside of Hama.
The renewed shelling follows dozens of rocket raids and barrel bombs by the Syrian and Russian air forces on areas in Idlib and Hama, killing four people and injuring others in Morek, north of Hama governorate.
The Syrian and Russian fighter jets launched airstrikes which hit areas in the town of Khan Shaykhun, the shelling was extended al-Akrad Mountain in Latakia countryside, in addition to areas of Tal Aass, Abdeen, Maarat al-Numan, Basida, Heish, Midaya, Kafar Sijnah, Alteh, Al-Tamanah, Sheikh Dames, and Sirmaniyah in Idlib countryside.
The Syrian warplanes dropped barrel bombs on areas of Lataminah and Kafr Zita and targeted the towns of Morek and al-Arbaeen in northern Hama countryside, as well as Khan Shaykhun, south of Idlib.
On Monday, the Syrian government forces announced the resuming of its military operations in the de-escalation zones in northwestern Syria, on the fourth day of the ceasefire agreement, which was reached in the 13th round of Astana talks.
The statement said: “The Syrian Armed Forces will resume military operations against the terrorist groups in the region, and will respond to their attacks”.
The Syrian government forces also clarified the appeal decision by rejecting “Turkey supported terrorist groups to abide by the cease-fire, and because the truce was conditional upon Ankara’s implementation of its commitments in Sochi”.
