A bombing and shelling on the city of Afrin

A construction worker has lost his life while he was working, while some others were injured as a result of targeting the old neighborhood of the city of Afrin, northwestern Syria with two mortar shells, today’s afternoon.

The two mortar shells fell on the center of the city of Afrin, which had witnessed a car explosion earlier this morning, in which 13 people were injured, six of whom were taken to hospitals in Turkey.

The two shells fell near Sheikh Shawakh Mosque, causing the death of a construction worker, injuring other civilians, and causing serious material damage to the area.

Citizen, M. M., who refused to reveal his identity, because of the seriousness of the security situation in Afrin, said that she heard the sound of firing shells and then the sound of its fall, in a sign that the shelling was fired from within the control areas of the Syrian armed opposition groups.

While the car bomb in the center of Afrin market has injured 13 people, and made serious material damage in the area of the explosion, which according to sources, was very crowded, especially before Friday prayers.

It is noteworthy that the city of Afrin has been in a state of security tensions since the Turkish army and the affiliated armed opposition groups had taken control over the Kurdish region on March 18, where human rights organizations concerned with documenting the Turkish violations in Afrin, have reported more than 100 bombings in the city and its villages for a year and a half.
