ISIS militants fighting alongside TFSA in Ras al-Ain and Tal Abyad – Documentation report by VDC-NSY

Members of the Islamic State terrorist group (ISIS) and others former Jabhat al-Nusra (al-Qaeda’s affiliate in Syria) are participating in the ranks of the Turkish-backed Syrian National Army SNA, an umbrella of several Islamist militias involved in the Turkish military operation in northern Syria.

Violations Documentation Center in Northern Syria (VDC-NSY) has collected and documented detailed information regarding the names of local leaders and fighters of the ISIS terrorist group fighting in the ranks of the National Army, also known as Turkish-backed Free Syrian Army (TFSA).

According to the documentation report, most of the gathered information about them show they were security members of ISIS, but once the terrorist ISIS group's presence inside Syria declined, some of its elements joined al-Hamzat Division, others joined Ahrar al-Sharqiya group, al-Sultan Murad Brigade and indulging groups such as the Red Bands (al-Asa'b al-homer).

They fought alongside the Turkish military in the latest military invasion in northern Syria, in the cities of Ras al-Ain and Tal Abyad, who are currently there, the report mentioned some of them as follows:

1- Basel Mohammed al-Ali: 23 years old from Homs, Nickname is Talha, was a member of ISIS since its founding in 2013 and fought with them in the desert of Homs (Badiya), he worked in security section, in June 2017 he moved to the village of Akhtarin in northern Aleppo and joined al-Hamzat Division, as he is currently present in the area of Suluk in northern Raqqa.

2 – Basil Ghassan Alasoura, Nickname is Abu Osama al-Shami born in 1993 Damascus, first he joined al-Nusra Front in 2012 in Ghouta of Damascus, then pledged allegiance to ISIS in 2014 and fought for their side in Ghouta and in As-Suwayda countryside.

In 2016, he moved to the external security section of Wilayat al-sham (Damascus). In 2017, he left to Idlib, then he underwent a military course in Turkey and participated alongside the Turkish military in the military invasion in Afrin. He is currently in the city of Tal Abyad within al-Hamzat Division.

3- Bashar Semaid: Nickname Abu Islam Al-Qalamouni, was born in Damascus countryside in 1994, he joined the Islamic State in 2014 within Wilayat Damascus, al-Qalamoun sector, he fought in several battles in Damascus countryside, Palmyra and al-Tanf base and received a security detachment in the external security in 2016.

He carried out several security operations in Damascus. He supervised the entry of three bombed cars into al-Sayyida Zainab area of Damascus countryside. He went out to Idlib with his security group in 2017. There he worked in coordination with an ISIS amir “Abu Ayman al-Iraqi” and brought leaders of ISIS into Turkey.

In 2018, he joined Ahrar al-Sharqiya group with his entire group, he fought alongside Turkey in the invasion of Afrin. He is currently in the city of Sere-Kaniye (Ras al-Ain) in Hasakah countryside within Ahrar al-Sharqiya group under the task of cannon gunner-23.

4 – Bashir al-Amouri: Nickname, Abu Ahmed al-Tadmari of the tribe of al-Amour, origins from Sokhnah born in 1990. He joined the Islamic State in 2014, which belongs to Wilayat Homs and the army of the caliphate. Initially his security mission was to open smuggling routes towards the desert of Palmyra and to the SDF held areas.

in 2017, he moved to Azaz and continued his work there as opening smuggling routes for ISIS members from Turkey and joined al-Sultan Murad Brigade, the second Corps. He participated in the Turkish attack on Afrin and on east of the Euphrates. He is currently in Ras al-Ain.

5- Abdullah Ahmad al-Abdullah: was born in 1991 in Homs countryside, he joined ISIS in 2014 as a security leader. He moved to fight near al-Tanf and carried out several operations there against the Global Coalition. He was directly affiliated with Abu Ayyub al-Iraqi, who served as the external security of the Qaqa’a Division.

In 2014, Abdullah seized a United Nations SUV in Ghouta of Damascus and brought it into the Petra area, later he moved to the city of Azaz to continue his security work there. He was distinguished by his close relationship with the Turks, in August he joined the group of al-Hamzat Division and participated in the Turkish attack on the city of Ras al-Ain, his last appearance was in area of Aliyah silos.

6 – Abdullah al-Shammari: age 20, nickname Abu Talha al-Shammari resident of the Sokhnah in Palmyra, he joined ISIS and pledged allegiance to the terrorist group on 2015 in al-Shulah area in Deir ez-Zor. He specialized in the field of the Caliphate Army, he fought alongside ISIS on the fronts of Sokhnah and Palmyra, he fled to the al- Ra’e in northern Aleppo.

In February 2018, he joined Ahrar al-Sharqiya group, he is now fighting on the fronts of Suluk and Tall Abyad.

7.Abdullah Mohammed al-Oweidi, Nickname Abu Saif al-Halabi, was born in 1989, Aleppo countryside, he joined ISIS in 2015 and fought several battles in Aleppo countryside. In 2016, he moved to Dabsi area and became an official in al-Hesba. In 2017, he moved to Idlib and joined groups belonging to Turkey "Division 23, Al-Hamzat" he participated with Turkey in the attack on the city of Afrin, he also participated in the recent Turkish attack on the city of Tal Abyad, he is currently in the city of Tal Abyad.

8.Abdullah Mohammed al-Enezi: 27 years old, Saudi national, nickname "Abu Mohammed al-Jazrawi"

He joined ISIS coming from Saudi Arabia via Turkey in 2015. He was an indulgent and he fought the Russian and Syrian forces in Badiya, and in the countryside of Homs. He led a battalion Asoud al-Adnani, then he moved to the city of Azaz in 2017 and joined the Turkish affiliated Ahrar al-Sharqiya group, he became a military commander of Ahrar al-Sharqiya group, he is currently in the city of Tal Abyad.

9.Abd al-Rahman Muhaimeed, nickname Qusurah al-Dairi, was born in Deir ez-Zor in 1992.

He first joined al-Nusra Front in 2012 in Deir ez-Zor and withdrew with al-Nusra Front members to Daraa governorate where he participated in battles in Daraa countryside against the Syrian government forces alongside al-Qaeda.

In 2015 he moved to Hama and became an official of an indulgent group known as the Red Band.
In 2018 he joined Ahrar al-Sharqiya group and fought alongside Turkey in eastern Euphrates and is currently in the city of Ras al-Ain.

According to the Violations Documentation Center, those ISIS militant received military training inside the Turkish territories before taking part with the Turkish military in the battle of Olive Branch and in the occupation of Afrin on March 18, 2018.
