Iranian factions deploy among the orchards on Euphrates bank, after abandoning their positions in Albukamal

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights stated that the Iranian factions have evacuated their positions today in the city of Albukamal, in the countryside of Deir ez-Zor, in anticipation of a U.S. strike on these sites. As the factions spread among the orchards on the bank of the Euphrates River while kept some of their members to guard the vacated positions.

Unidentified military drones flew yesterday morning over the city of Albukamal, northeastern Syria, while the Iranian factions stationed in the vicinity of Albukamal and the bordering area with Iraq, tried to target with heavy machine guns these drones, of which their purpose was not clear.

Pro-Syrian opposition social media accounts also reported the process of U.S. aviation on Friday night, flights extensively over Badiyet al-Mayadeen and Al-Shuhail area east of Deir ez-Zor, coincided with a full mobilization by the Iranian factions in the areas under their control in Deir ez-Zor, and along the left bank of the Euphrates River between the cities of Albukamal and Deir ez-Zor.

Moreover, local pro-Syrian opposition social media accounts reported that several Iranian factions in the city center of Deir ez-Zor evacuated their headquarters in Mount Thardeh, in the vicinity of the city after the murder of Quds Force Commander Qasem Soleimani, to be distributed to sub-headquarters, for fears of any expected strike by the U.S. fighter-jets.

Large gatherings were also seen at the checkpoints of those factions deployed in al-Badiya and at the entrance to the city of Albukamal from Sukkariya and the Euphrates River sides, nearby Albukamal bridge, in addition to mobilization in the village of al-Hari near Albukamal border-crossing, in addition to the establishment of a curfew in the village of As-Suway'ya.
