The Russian and Turkish forces conducted a joint military patrol today in the western countryside of the town of Derbasiya, northeastern Syria, in an implementation of the regional-international agreement on conducting joint patrols in the region along the bordering areas with Turkey.
The joint Russian-Turkish military patrol set off from the village of Shereke, 15 km west of Derbasiya, where the Russian vehicles escorted by two helicopters waited for three Turkish military vehicles at the border crossing near the village. During the patrol which was accompanied by two Russian helicopters, a number of Turkish soldiers, in addition to other Russian ones were seen getting off their vehicles for minutes in the village of Salam Alik, in the western countryside of Derbasiya. The patrol toured the villages of Salam Alik, Ateishan, Kirgund, Taalek, Qayrawan and Dahr al-Arab, then Kisra in the countryside of Abu Rasin (Zargan).
After the end of the joint patrol with the Russians, the three Turkish vehicles returned to the Turkish side via Shereke village crossing, as this patrol comes in an implementation of the agreement that was signed between Russia and Turkey in Sochi.
